Notes for Mattie Pitts: Obituary- Jonesboro gazette Democrat (Jonesboro / Anna Illinois) October 1928. Mrs. Mattie Brimm Anderson died at the home of her son, Dee Brimm, on the Burgess farm last Saturday at 1:00P.M. Funeral services were held at the Pentecostal church in Anna, Monday, October 15, 1928 at 2:00P.M. and interment was made in the Casper Cemetery. She is survived by her husband and five children, Robert Brimm, of Cobden, Dee and Thomas Brimm of Anna. Mrs. Ruth Short of Chicago and Mrs Lloyd Grabes of Akron Ohio. She was born near Nashville, Tenn. and was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Pitts. She came to (Union) county about 40 years ago and has resided here ever since.

Mattie was known to chew tobbaco and often slept in a long wool nightgown with big deep pockets. She also had a sense of humor. On one occasion when her husband Charlie Anderson came home after dark Mattie had prepared a manaquin of some kind to take her place in the bed. Charlie crawled into the bed and started snuggling up to the dummy. At that time Mattie turned on a light and got a big laugh out of husbands reaction.
