John W. West, 85, of Anna, died monday at 12:45 at Union County Hospital in Anna. He was born September 2, 1902, in Woodbury TN., the son of Joe and Minnie Elkins West. He married Irene Boyer on July 4, 1925 and she preceded him in death on April 18, 1978. He was a long-time employee of the City of Anna and served as chief of the city's fire department. He is survived by four daughters, Doris Williams and Louise Spring, both of Wolf Lake, and Lillie Halterman and Wanda Beanland, both of Anna; two sons, bob West of Anna and John West of Steeleville; 22 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; five sisters, Nova West, Evelyn Boomer, Helen Fear, Daisy White and Mae Boyer, all of Anna; and other relatives. Funeral services for John W. West were Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Crain Funeral Home in Anna with the Rev. John Mowell officiating. Interment was in the Casper Cemetery. Crain Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
