WILLIAM7, WILLIAM BALL6 III., JOHN5 BALL II, JOHN4, WILLIAM3, ROBERT2, WILLIAM1) was born May 02, 1717 in Stafford County Va., and died September 03, 1792 in Fairfax Co. Va.. He married NANCY ANN BRASHEAR June 27, 1745 in Fairfax Va., daughter of ROBERT BRASHEAR and CHARITY DOWELL. She was born September 26, 1729 in Calvert MD., and died November 30, 1816 in Fairfax Co. Va..

OSES BALL SR.:
On 21 May 1748, Thomas Lord Fairfax, made a grant of land unto Moses Ball, on record in " Northern Neck " Grant Book F", page 288, in the State Land Office in Richmond Va. A copy of his will dated 15 Dec, 1786, is on file in the Fairfax County Va Court house. He bequeathed 25 acres of land mentioned above to his son John and left the remainder to his Dearly Beloved wife Ann Ball. Other bequests were made to children Bazil, Ann, and Sabilla. In addition the will directs his executors to repay a debt of ten pounds to George Washington. The will was presented at a court in Fairfax County on 17 Sept 1792 and proved by oath of one Elijah Wood, one of the witnesses. At a court in the same County on Oct 15 1792, it was further proved by oath of one William Culberhouse and was ordered to be recorded. Moses name his wife and children`s names and date`s are in the Ball family Bible witch has been given to the Historical Society of Virginia in Arlington. Moses and Nancy Ann lived on Four Mile Run adjoining that of Gen George Washington, existing records state they did surveying together and had bussiness dealings. General Washington mentions Moses Ball in his diary several times, Friday April 22, 1785 he states: Took an early breakfast at Abington and accompanied by Dr. Stewart and Lund Washington and having sent for Moses Ball who attended, I went to the corner of the above land, " Here follows a description of a survey in which one of his servants William a chain carrier fell and broke his knee pan and there was much difficulty in getting him home, In another diary entry dated May 16, 1786, Washington states when I returned home found Moses Ball and his son John and William Carlin here the first having his effects under execution wanted to borrow money to redeem them, I lent him Ten Pounds for this purpose, When making his will Moses didn`t forget this loan.......(This new Info was found in Arlington Historical Society under Historical Markers Of Artington Virginia. ) Moses Ball born 1717 death 1792 Land Grant. The ancestor of generations of prominent Arlingtonians, received a 91 acre grant on this land from Lord Fairfax in 1748. The propery remained in the Ball Family until 1818. It is thought that Moses built his house on a rise north of the existing spring about 200 yards east of this marker. George Washington who owened an adjacent tract of land south of Four Mile Run surveyed his tract on April 22 1785 in company with Moses Ball.
Anoher of the markers state " THEY !!!!! ( Moses and John Ball ) WERE COUSINS OF GEORGE WASHINGTON.

This Info was confirmed in part by Early Settlers of Lee County Va page 713, Ensign John Ball born July 25,1746. Was a Veteran of The American Revolution was in the Sixth Virginia Inf. John is buried in The Ball Family Cemetary in Alington Virginia.
