Myth -Legend  on our Indain Heritage 

This story has been passed down  from several Desc. of Mary Elizabeth Bly De Jurnette Raines.

It can not be proven  or Disproven.

There has to be SOME truth to it for people who never knew each other to tell the same story. 

In 1979 i visited an elderly desc of Sarah Margaret Hopper in Reed Springs and she told me the almost same story.  

             The Story
Jane Brittain Bly was kidnapped by indains in an Indain Raid and taken to a reservation . She became pregnant while being held captive .
Her Husband  found her and wrapped blankets around the wagon wheels  and sneaked into the camp at night and bribed a indain with Tabacco to help him rescue her and the Baby[Mary Elizabeth].


facts 
there were no Indain Reservations where they lived in 1860 in Mercer Co mo .
Elizabeths picture looks like she is of Indain Heritage and a lot of her Children and grandchildren have the  indain features.and she is the only one of our ancestors that could have been indain
 so accept this as a legend and not proof .
