The 1850 Logan County, Illinois Census showing Stephen B. and William Dillard, sons of James Dillard of Gallatin County and their families residing with the families of Elizabeth (Dillard) Ewing and the families of her sons James, Christopher, Sidney and Osborn Ewing. Osborn Ewing, presumed son of John and Elizabeth Ewing, is shown as being 39 years old and born in Illinois. This indicates that John and Elizabeth Ewing arrived in the Illinois Territory no later than 1811. Also implied is a relationship to the family of James Dillard Sr. of Gallatin County, Illinois.
