William Thomas6 Ice (Thomas5, Thomas4, Abraham 'Lame Abe'3, William Galloway "Indian Billy"2, Frederick Iaac1) was born January 13, 1868 in Crab Bottom (now Blue Grass) section of Highland Co., Va., and died April 17, 1943. He married Bertha Elizabeth Connole November 22, 1892. She was born May 15, 1867 in Carrollton, Il., and died June 23, 1962.

Prior to inheriting his father's farm, William worked on the Santa Fe Railroad as a blueprinter, and was laid off in 1891 when it went in to receivership. he was a operator for a mule car in Kansas City for the Kansas City Street Railway Company. Moving to Belvoir, close to where he grew up, he bought 80 acres and farmed until purchasing his father's land. The land description is Section 6, Township 13, Range18, was in the family for 73 years, until 1943. He was a good and willing worker and farmer to all who knew him, and enjoyed sharing meals with his wife, a VERY good cook. He served his community as clerk on the school board for many years, served the Red Cross and the U.S. Bond drives. His wife sold the farm shortly after his death, moving into Lawrence.

  Notes for William Edward Ice:
Edward farmed his father's land for a number of years, then bought a farm in the Stull, Ks, community. He lived there until his death, then his wife moved to Lawrence. They had no children.

Notes for Ira F. Ice:
Ira's children were adopted by his late wifes' husband, but they did not stay with him after their mother's death, choosing to move to Topeka, Ks, rent an apartment, attend school and work. All finished high school and obtained steady jobs.
