Notes for Martin Francis Ice:
Martin served in the 10th Division Headquarters Co., Field Artillery, and trained for action Funston, Kansas, Fort Riley for World War I. He attained Corpral status and was being shipped out to france when the Armistice was signed in 1918. After his marriage he worked his grandfather Connole's farm in Douglas County, Ks., then moved to the former home of his wife (Shawnee County), to farm there. Later, he operated a general store in Big Springs, then obtained a position with the Postal Service in Lawrence until he retired in 1964.
