It is the sheer joy of finding someone close to me that keeps me interested in this wonderful hobby. The earliest ancestors I have found were born in the early-1600s. Imagine the clothes, the state of their homes, the food, transportation, work and manners. That's why I like watching period dramas - to give the backdrop to my family toiling away over all those years of history. The feeling is no less when I am researching for someone else - it is delightful to find those connections and introduce them to their family.
