Jacob Royer,b.Nov. 20, 1842-died January 4,1862 son of Samuel Royer and Mary J.(Hammaker)Royer.Aged 19 Years 1 Mo & 6 Days.On the 27th of December Jacob Royer was with the regiment and went out on picket duty across the Greene River.On the following day,he complained of sickness and was taken to the hospital where he had convulsions.He got better during the course of the night.Then,last night he got bad and died about 3 A.M."The disease of your son was Typhoid Fever."The Village Record, Waynesboro,Pennsylvania Friday,January 17,1862 Letter to Mr. Samuel Royer from Capt.
