FRANK SLEEPER RUSSELL pictured in Army uniform circa 1944 date unknown. ================================================= WORCESTER TELEGRAM Obituary Wednesday, May 5, 2004 FRANK SLEEPER RUSSELL, 77 photo NORTHBORO- FRANK SLEEPER RUSSELL, 77, of 346 Davis St., Northboro, died at UMass Memorial Medical Center-University Campus on Monday, May 3 after a long illness. He leaves his wife MARGUERITE (DALEY) RUSSELL and two daughters ANN SLEEPER RUSSELL and JOAN SLEEPER RUSSELL, wife of LEONARD F. SUPRISE. He was predeceased by his brother RICHARD SLEEPER RUSSELL and sister SALLY R. SCHNEIDER. He was born in Worcester a son of RAYMOND F. and ETHEL (SLEEPER) RUSSELL and lived in Holden before moving to Northboro 26 years ago. He attended Worcester Academy and Dartmouth College. Mr. RUSSELL was President and CEO of SLEEPER AND HARTLEY, Inc., a company founded by his grandfather FRANK H. SLEEPER. His brother RICHARD was Vice-President and Treasurer and together they owned and operated the business. The company merged recently with KINEFAC CORP. Mr. RUSSELL had been granted ten patents for his designs relating to spring making and wire forming machinery. He was a former member of Worcester Dartmouth Club, Sturbridge Village, Worcester Historical Society and was a former member of the Zoning Board of Northboro. Mr. RUSSELL served in the Army during World War II and was in the European Theatre of Operations as an anti-tank gunner. Later he served as purchasing and contracting Sergeant for the 5th Infantry Division Quartermaster. A private graveside service will be held. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers a contribution may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Caswell-King Funeral Home, 474 Grove St., Worcester is directing arrangements.
