Notes
After the return of his parents to the Danville area, Clarence began
working in 1911 for Robert Holmes & Bros., Inc. During his career he has
raced horses, motorcycles, automobiles and boats; he became an aviation
enthusiast early in his life making his first flight in 1927. During
World War II he provided flight instruction to students at Danville High
School and did much over the years to stimulate an interest in flying in
the Danville area. He holds Commercial Pilot's License No. 10683. The
Vermillion County Airport was named after him. He is an inventor and
holds many patents on various automatic engineering devices. He has
worked as head of the Continental Filling Corp. and retired as President
of the Modern Machine Shop and Carter Engineering Company in Danville.
They are both buried at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum, Danville,
Illinois.

Notes
Margaret graduated from Catlin High School and attended the University
of Illinois majoring in education. She taught Home Economics in several
area high schools until her marraige to James at which time she retired
from the education system. James as employed as Principal and
Administrator of Schools in Newman and Steger, Illinois, and retired as
Business Manager of the Chicago Heights Elementary Schools. Both James
and Margaret are buried in the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Danville,
Illinois.

He married GERTRUDE D. WARTERS August 17, 1939 in Judson, Missouri, daughter of Thomas Warters and Alice Crow.

Notes
Fred farmed with his brother, paul on land owned by their father until
his marriage to Gertrude. They moved into the home where he and his
brothers and sisters were born, farming that land until his death
in 1959. Fred, Gertrude and their son, Robert Dean, are all buried in
the Jones Grove Cemetery, Catlin, Illinois.
