77. PAUL LESTER9 CARTER (ALBERT VOORHEES8, WILLIAM7, HARVEY6, JOHN5, JAMES JR.4, JAMES3, JOSEPH2, JAMES1) was born November 20, 1904, and died June 18, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois. He married MILDRED LYNCH September 04, 1940.

Notes
Prior to his marriage, Paul lived with his parents on the farm east of
Jamaica and farmed for his father. After his marriage to Mildred, his
mother moved to Danville, and he and Mildred stay on the family farm
until Paul's death. Both Mildred and Paul are buried in Jones Grove
Cemetery, Catlin, Illinois.

Notes
Vernon Carter was a prominent Hazen rice farmer. He came from Danville,
Illinois at an early age and settled in Hazen. He was president of the
Stuttgard Production Credit Association, former president of the
National Farm Loan Assocation, Lonoke chairman of the AAU wresting
commission in Arkansas and past president of the Hazen school board and
past member of the town council. He also served on the County OPA board
during the war years. He died in a Little Rock hospital. Funeral
services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. at the Hazen Methodist Church by
the Rev. T.M. Armstrng of Texarkana, Arkansas. Burial was in Hazen
Cemetery, Hazen, Arkansass by Westbrook Funeral Home.

According to the 1914 Prsons, Kansas city directory, Roy was a machinist
with the MK&T railroad. He is buried at Mulberry, Arkansas.

FARMED UNTIL 1935 WHEN HE TOOK A JOB WITH ARMOUR & CO. AS A LIVESTOCK
BUYER AT THE PARSONS STOCKYARD. HE RETIRED IN 1960. HE WAS A MEMBER OF
THE EDNA LODGE NO.345 AF&AM. FUNERAL SERVICES WERE UNDER THE DIRECTION
OF GOODWIN FUNERAL HOME WITH THE REV. JAMES WYNNE OFFICIATING. BURIAL
WAS IN NORTH EDNA CEMETERY, EDNA, KANSAS. MEMBERS OF THE MASONIC LODGE
ACTED AS PALLBEARERS.

82. WILLIAM ABRAHAM9 CARY (NANCY JANE8 CARTER, HARVEY7, HARVEY6, JOHN5, JAMES JR.4, JAMES3, JOSEPH2, JAMES1) was born June 27, 1888 in Parsons, Kansas, and died July 11, 1978 in Coffeyville, Kansas. He married GRACE VIRGINIA ATKINS February 17, 1917 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Notes
Will was born on a farm near Parsons, Kansas. He spent his early young
and received his education in Labette County, moving to Tulsa where he
was in the structural steel business. During his residency in Tulsa, he
was vice-president in charge of sales and engineering for Braden Steel
Copmany. He designed and helped construct the first metal hanger at
Tulsa International Airport. This hanger is still used to this day. In
1929, he and his family moved to Oklahoma City where he worked for Star
Building Mfg. Co. After moving to Edna, he worked for the O.S.C. Mfg.
Co. in Coffeyville which later became ParMac. He retired in 1965 after
20 years of service. He and Grace moved to West Coffeyville in 141 and
later moved into Coffeyville in 1970. He was a member of the First
Christian Church and the Mem's Class of that church. He was a member of
the Int'l Assoc. of Machinists and Aerospace Workers No. 693; a member
of the East Brown Grange Camp No. 1704; A.A.R.P. and the Statesman's
Club. He died of a heart attack on July 11, 1978. Services were under
the director of Ford Funeral Service/Edgewood Chapel with burial in
Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Coffeyville, Kansas (Section G, Lot
332A, Grave No. 4).

SHE WAS BORN IN PARSONS KANSAS AND MOVED WITH HER PARENTS TO COFFEYVILLE IN 1900. THEY LIVED THERE FOR TWO YEARS, THEN MOVED TO EDNA. SHE COMPLETED HER EDUCATION IN EDNA. SHE AND HER HUSBAND FARMED IN THE ANGOLA COMMUNITY UNTIL THEY MOVED TO COFFEYVILLE IN 1930 WHERE SHE RESIDED UNTIL HER DEATH. SHE WAS A MEMBER OF THE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, THE FRIENDSHIP CLUB OF THAT CHURCH, THE HELPING HAND HDU, THE EAST BROWN GRANGE 1704 AND SHE WAS A 40 YEAR MEMBER OF THE STITCH AND CHATTER SEWING CLUB. SHE PASSED AWAY AT MEDICALODGE WHERE SHE HAD BEEN A RESIDENT SINCE 1974. SERVICES WERE UNDER THE DIRECTION OF FORD FUNERAL HOME WITH BURIAL IN FAIRVIEW CEMETERY, COFFEYVILLE, KANSAS. IT WAS REQUESTED THAT MEMORIALS BE MADE TO THE KANSAS CHAPTER OF THE ARTHRITIS FOUNDATION.
