About Our Family Research

This has been a slow process and I must admit I have not put forth much effort lately. Thus far I can successfully go back through my paternal grandparents and have partial info back to my maternal great grandparents. There is an outlined family tree of sorts in the "related files" section below. I have been pleasantly surprised by how many folks have contacted me as a result of this site. That's been the most pleasant part of this whole experience. By the way, if you have any info you'd like to share regarding my family connections, please feel free to contact me. My contact info is at the bottom of this page. Thanks!

Family Photos
  • Francis Joseph Murphy approx 1941 or 42 (108 KB)
Francis is my uncle (maternal). Borm 10/25/1922. I have never met him. Love the sailor suit though!
  • James Paul and Margaret Lucy Murphy - Honeymoon (137 KB)
James Paul Murphy and Margaret Lucy (Devlin) Murphy on their honeymoon to Cresent Park in RI. Unsure of exact year of marriage (Approx 1920ish). These are my maternal grandparents.
  • Charles and Veronica's Wedding August 19, 1950 (67 KB)
My mom and dad. Found another picture of the happy couple!
  • Francesca, Charles, Veronica and Susan in 1958 (103 KB)
Francesca is my paternal grandmother. Unfortunately the only pictures I have of her are when she is a bit elderly. The gentleman is my father. The younger woman to his right is my mother, Mary, but she goes by her middle name, Veronica. The imp on her lap is my older sister Susan Lynn (Sciolto) McBride.
  • Charles Vincent Sciolto in the Navy (69 KB)
My dad. Rumor has it, dad wasn't thrilled about being on a ship at sea so, of course, he was sent to the Navy. His service was carried out on an aircraft carrier. Still trying to find out which one.
  • Francesca, Aunt's Agnes & Theresa, cousin Rosemary (121 KB)
I'm so excited! It's like I found gold! I now know everyone in this picture! Far left is Emma Willson then her son/my uncle John Willson, my Aunt Augustina "Agnes" (Sciolto) Willson, my cousin Rosemary (Coutremanche) Osborne, Aunt Theresa Mary (Sciolto) Courtemanche, her husband/my uncle Louis Coutremanche and my paternal grandmother Francesca A.(Foti) Sciolto. The picture was taken Thanksgiving day 1955. Much thanks to my cousins Joyce, Rosemary and Deborah for helping fill in the blanks for me!
  • Myself, sister Susan and mom Vonny 5-13-99 (71 KB)
This picture was taken in Washington,DC the year my dad's name was added to the National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial. The "photographer" is a good friend and honorary family member, Linda Stokoe. I can't recall what she said to get those grins out of us but, you can see my mom saying, "Oh Linda!"
  • Margaret Lucy (Devlin) Murphy (186 KB)
I believe she is about 19 years old here. This picture then would be circa 1917. (9/1898 - 8/25/1952) She is my maternal grandmother.
  • Dianne Sciolto Correia Heron (57 KB)
Dianne was daughter of Tony and Laurianne Sciolto. I just learned of her passing 8-13-08 by a friend of hers who located me via this site. Dianne had relocated to Canada w/her first husband after graduating w/ a degree in political science from Stonehill College. She had no children. I believe she was only 60 yo at the time of her death.
  • Charles and Veronica's Wedding day 1950 (166 KB)
My mom and dad. Married 8/19/50. From left to right: Arlene Mullaney Hickey, Margaret Beverly Murphy (my aunt), James Murphy (my grandfather), Mary Veronica (mom), Charles V (dad), Edward Faulkner, Barbara Douglass Grant. Ringbearer: William Perry. Flowergirl: Sandy Sciolto.
  • Dianne, Francis Sciolto Dufault and Roger Dufault (58 KB)
This is another pic sent by Dianne's friend Elizabeth. I was thrilled enough to have it then noticed the couple flanking her are my aunt Fannie and uncle Roger. We used to go to Fannie's for Sunday dinner, spaghetti, meatballs, sausage...mmmmm! I have no pictures of them so this pic has an added bonus! I think the other gal on the right, wearing the hat, is my aunt Pauline. I still need to ask other family to verify that one. I was little the last time I saw her and can only remember her pinching my cheeks and chucking pennies at cousin Lou at his reception...she said it was an Italian good luck thing...?
  • Dad and Aunt Frances ("Gally") Dorsa (161 KB)
Obviously very young. They were very close in age. I believe they were both born in 1927.
  • Tony, Laurianne (Robichaud) Sciolto + Dianne 1946 (72 KB)
This is apparently a fairly rare pic of the couple together with their dgtr Dianne before the couple split.
  • Mary Veronica (Murphy) Sciolto (151 KB)
She's going to kill me for this! Mom is camera shy but apparently agreed to sit still for her high school graduation photo. Mom graduated from Attleboro High in Attleboro, MA in 1949. Born 8/8/1930
  • Julie and I 1995 (106 KB)
This was taken the first summer we were together. We were camping at a women's campground in the thumb of Michigan.
  • Charles V Sciolto on the APD pistol team (185 KB)
Dad was a cop on the Attleboro Police Dept. He was quite the marksman I understand. Unfortunately he was killed in the line of duty on May 31, 1968. I think this picture was taken within the year prior to his death (ie, probably circa 1967). He is farthest to the right.
  • Patrick Devlin and his mother Margaret Devlin (84 KB)
Patrick (8/20/1895 - 10/2/1972) was a cop on the Pawtucket, RI Police Dept from 1926 - 1956. He is my maternal great uncle. Margaret (Scullion) Devlin is my maternal great grandmother. (born 3/17/1876, died 15/5/1953)

  • Maureen A Sciolto family tree in outline format (53 KB)
the family tree program offered by genealogy.com kept flipping my family around, like playing 52 pickup! I got tired of fixing it so put this outline version on the page. It is not the easiest thing to follow, my apologies, please be patient with me! I've updated it a bit on 10-8-08.
