3. BARNARD3 HARTZOG (HANS HENRICH2 HERTZOG, HENRICH1) was born 1712 in Sandhausen, Germany . Others have Hochefelden, Switzerland and Nordlingen, Bavaria, and died Bef. 1782. He married (1) MARIAN SALOMA MEYER, daughter of JOH GEORG MEYER. He married (2) ANNA MARY CHVILETTE February 18, 1755 in Orangeburg Dist. SC. She was born Abt. 1716 in S.C..

ARNARD HARTZOG:
Some decades ago a Kenneth Copeland made a chart of the Hartzog family
giving George as the fountain head of the group in SC. Many researchers have
taken his work and continued using this info to expand on their branch.
Within the last three years this book FAMILIAN IN SANDHAUSEN by Kurt Frei
has revealed that a Bernard with the same children, we all agree, belong
to our Bernard is in the book along with the father of Bernard being
Heinrich Hertzog. These are transcribed immigration records from Germany.
If you have access to a LDS library you can get it on loan from Utah.

He is recorded as saying in his petition for land that he came to America because "I have never had any land for my children or for myself."

Immigration: 1752, According to minutes, in Oct 1752. he came "...by the 'Cunliffe,' Capt'n Cleater, from Rotterdam on the encouragement given by foreign protestants." Source: "Petitions for Land from the SC Council Journals, Volume III: 1752-1753"
Property: January 02, 1754, 300 acres of land was granted Bernard on Cow Castle Swamps below Orangeburg Township

It has been speculated that she came on the Cunliffe Ship with her
husband, Bernard, sons, Tobias and George, daughters, Barbara, Elizabeth,
and Eva. Maria must have died in South Carolina
