SHANNON FAMILY CEMETERY IN RICHMOND, KENTUCKY

Richmond Cemetery is the location of the burial site of James Jackson Shannon and Virginia Walker Hisle Shannon. My mother's parents, Owen Walker Hisle and Eugenia Ford, are also buried in this cemetery along with numerous other relatives. I served for a number of years on the cemetery board. The cemetery is the site of one of the Battles of Richmond, August 29-30, 1862, during the War Between the States. A major victory for the South.
