My family research includes the Crutchfields, Millers, and Meeks of Virginia residing in Alleghany, Nelson, and Henrico Counties.
My grandfather was Sheriff Joseph W. Meeks of Covington, Virginia in the early 1900's. He married Cora Mae Miller.
Cora's mother was Emma Belle Crutchfield and her father was Charles Miller. Emma and Charles are buried (I believe) in the Sharon Church Cemetery in Iron Gate. Cora and Joseph had 2 boys and 2 girls. They were James Grover Meeks, Charles Gilmer Meeks, Avis Octavia Meeks and Elsie Mae Meeks (my mother). My great grandmother, Emma Belle Crutchfield Miller was the daughter of the late Judge Edward Crutchfield of Richmond, Virginia.
My research also includes the Browns of Covington, Virginia. My father was Clarence Taft Brown and my mother was Elsie Mae Meeks.
In addition to myself, they had my brother, Robert J. Brown (living) and my sister, Peggy Jean Brown (deceased). My father had several children in a second marriage - Clarence Taft Brown, Jr., Richard Brown, Donald Brown, Michael Brown, Darlene Brown and Crystal Brown. My father's father was H. K. Brown and his mother was S. (Sally) A. Brown. His brother was Everett Brown of Covington and he had a sister in that area also.
