Obituary. SHEFFIELD.-—Villa Sheffield was born near Woodward, Iowa, April 10, 1883, died Feb. 20, 1908, at the home of M. M. Just, near Fairview, Okla., aged 24 years, 10 months and 10 days. At an early age she made a public profession of her love for God, for Christ, and for righteousness, and has ever lived a conscientious Christian life; held in high esteem by all who knew her. Death has plucked one of our fairest flowers. Her pleasant looks, gentle voice, and kindly ways, attracted all who met her. In her death her parents lose a loving, dutiful daughter, brothers and sisters a kind and gentle sister; the public schools a most efficient teacher, and friends one who was ever ready with words of sympathy, cheer and commendation. To all, her life was ever an example of the earnest, conscientious Christian. Her sickness, pneumonia, took her from her school, Thursday, Feb. 13, a week from which time she died. Funeral services were held at the M. E. church in Fairview, Sabbath 24. The songs were finely rendered by the Howk family, among which songs was her favorite, "There'll be no Dark Valley when Jesus comes." Prayer and scripture reading by the Rev. Mason, pastor of the M. E. church, sermon by Eld. S. S. Davison, from Rev. 19: 8, "And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white." Inter(XXX)nt at Roscoe cemetery. She leaves to mourn her loss, father, mother, three sisters, three brothers, many relatives, and a host of friends to whom their acquaintance with her will ever be a sweet memory. S. S. D. |
