The Slotten Family of Richland County, North Dakota

Andreas Toresen of Slaattene Farm in Næs, Hedmark Fylker, Norway was born 16 September 1840. He emigrated to America, in the Summer of 1867. Once in the US, he became Andrew Slotten, first living in Chicago, then Wisconsin, and thereafter Minneapolis, Minnesota. In early fall of 1869, his fianceé Lise Taalesdatter, from neighboring farm in Næs, Bye Østre, emigrated to Minneapolis, Minnesota. Twins, Thor and Lise were born 4 December 1843. Andrew and Lise married 5 February 1870. Two children were born to them; Son, Thorwald on 4 August 1870 and Daughter,Gunda Louise 26 September 1873, both in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. They moved to Dakota Territory in 1881 where land was purchased in Dwight Township, Richland County, from the US Government. The same land is being farmed by the Slotten Descendants yet to this day.
