Alice Richardson nee Thrower (right) and Friend
|
|

Alice Maud Marion Thrower was born at 68 Bevan Street Lowestoft Suffolk, the first child of George Henry Thrower, a blacksmith and his wife Elizabeth Moore. Alice worked as a schoolteacher in Ipswich Suffolk before her marriage to George Richardson in 1908, and after the family moved to Long Melford, Suffolk, she ran a tea shop. Alice was a very generous woman, who was known to invite tramps to sleep on the sofa overnight (my Granddad told many an interesting story about his mother!) and would give money to anyone who needed it. She died in Long Melford in 1944, and lies in a marked grave in Wissington churchyard with her husband.
