Hugh F. Smith - WW II (01/28/1920 to 11/13/2006)
Hugh F. Smith, a son of Captain John Smith, a Loogootee school teacher, & Mary Josephine "Mame" O'Neal-Smith. Hugh was stationed in England during World War II and served as an Air Plane Mechanic keeping the Unites States fighter pilots and airmen bomber crews safe to protect us with his excellent knowledge and expertise. He is a NSWC Crane, Indiana, retiree after 37 years of military and civil service to our country. Hugh taught himself to trim hair and with that skill earned extra money while in service to send home to his family. He passed away on 10/13/06 and was buried with a full military funeral service at St. Johns Catholic Cemetery in Loogootee, Indiana.
