She was born April 13, 1821 in Owens County, Indiana, and died February 15, 1903 in Stephens County, Texas.

I believe his mother lived next to them on the 1850 census - her name was Margaret and she was 70, she was living with Nancy Black from NC and her husband James.

Do any of the Blackburn names below appear familiar are related to your Blackburns.

Mellville C. (Campbell) Blackburn was the son of Robert F. Blackburn (died July 26, 1878) married first (unknown). Their children were: Herbert and Margaret. He married second August 5, 1841 Sarah Jane Fain (born April 13, 1821 in Owens County Indiana and died Febuary 15, 1903 in Stephens County, Texas). Robert F. Blackburn was born in Bradley County, Tennessee. They came to Plano, Collin County, Texas June 10,1857. Their children were: 1. William R. married Elenora Josephine Lyles: 2. Tee: 3. Mellville Campbell married Mary C. Lyles: 4. Josephine married Jim Dye, their children were J. H. Dye and others: 5. Rev. John W. (twin) and 6. Robert (twin).

Both William R. and Mellville C. were Methodist ministers and lived in a number of Texas towns.

He satates that Jesse Blackburn died Dec. 1864 leaving a widow and children: Susan a wife of Thomas Cass, Malinda E. Duggan wife of C. G. Duggan, Margaret A., Eliza G wife of R. E. Martin. Robert G. Blackburn who prosecuted a suit against R. E. Shugart and others for damages on account of arrest amnd imprisonment of his fathner, Jesse R. Blackburn who died in prison during the rebellion. John C. Bridges was arrested as a hostage for Jesse R. Blackburn. Information from one of the Martin descendants says Jesse was in the field plowing when raiders came and took him and his horse off.
