8. SIMON² DOBSON (ADAM¹) was born February 17, 1841 in Jefferson County, PA ¹³, and died Abt. 1867 ¹⁴. He married UNKNOWN WIFE (DOBSON) Abt. 1862. She was born Abt. 1845.

Listed below is the information - word for word - from Simon Dobson's birth certificate.

Record of Birth and Baptism: To these two parents as Adam Dobson and his wife Catherine, a daughter of Philip Reed, was born a son on the seventeenth day of February in the year of our Lord 1841
This child was born in Perry Township in Jefferson County in the State of Pennsylvania in North America; was baptized by the Rev'd John Atthouse and received the name of Simon Dobson.

A 'Simon Dobson' served in the Civil War as a Private in the Union Army from Pennsylvania. He enlisted September 23, 1864. Nothing more presently known.

Simon Dobson's actual birth certificate is in the possession of the Dobson family of Leask, Saskatchewan, Canada. His children moved to this area from the Robe, Washington area along with members of the Hartman and Hawthorne families. We are not certain who his wife was.
Our speculation on how this all occured is sketchy. What we can gather is that he passed away about 1867, and his wife either re-married or moved West with some family members, taking the children with her.
We are certain that there are Dobson's in the Greely, Colorado and Robe, Washington areas. They will be direct descendants of Simon. We have a couple of letters from relatives dated around 1930 in the Greely, Colorado area. However, we cannot locate them at this time.
