William Dobson married Amelia Sutter-Hawthorne in Robe, Washington in 1898. He came to Canada in 1904 with his brother Simon, his half brothers George, Charles and Calvin Hartman.
William and Amelia first homesteaded in the Honeywood, Saskatchewan area on SE35-47-5-W3rd. In 1906 they moved near Kilwinning, Saskatchewan to SE-16-47-5-W3rd.
