Great Hoaten Farm, St. Ishmael's - 2004

Gt. Hoaten (now called "Anchor Hoaten House") was once the home to the DAVIES family of St. Ishmael's. According to the Land Tax Returns of 1786 a Joseph Davies, owner of adjacent Deerland Farm, also leased Gt. Hoaten. The anchor on the lawn is reputed to have been brought to the property by the DAVIES family from St. Brides Bay on a waggon pulled by a team of horses during the 1880's or 1890's.
