She married ALEXANDER GRADY, JR. Abt. 1800 in Duplin Co., NC, son of ALEXANDER GRADY and ANNA THOMAS. He was born Abt. 1774 in Duplin C., NC, and died January 04, 1854 in Duplin Co., NC.

LEXANDER GRADY, JR.:
Several members of this family died of Small Pox in 1853. Dr. James Monroe Grady, one of Alexander's children was thought to have brought the disease home and given it to several members of the family.

He married PATIENCE OUTLAW March 25, 1799 in Duplin County, NC, daughter of JAMES OUTLAW and ELIZABETH GRADY. She was born August 14, 1770, and died December 03, 1836 in Duplin Co., NC.

9. JAMES MONROE6 GRADY (ALEXANDER5, ALEXANDER4, JOHN3, WILLIAM2 O' GRADY, ALEXANDER JOHN1) was born Abt. 1823 in Albertson Township, Duplin Co NC, and died 1894 in Duplin Co. NC. He married (1) ELIZABETH HOWARD April 17, 1846 in Wayne Co, NC, daughter of THOMAS HOWARD. She was born Abt. 1825, and died Abt. 1871. He married (2) MARY GRADY 1872, daughter of HENRY GRADY and LOUISA GARNER. She was born 1851. He married (3) PENELOPE GRADY Aft. 1883, daughter of HENRY GRADY and LOUISA GARNER. She was born Abt. 1850.

AMES MONROE GRADY:
James Monroe Grady inherited the homestead where he was reared . Taught school. After his marrriage he spent a year or two on his farm then went to Georgia where he taught school. He then returned to North Carolina.
James Monroe at some point became a doctor and served in the Civil War for six months and treated soldiers with Diptheria. He also started the smallpox epidemic that killed several of his siblings in 1853-54. Mary, Alexander, Hatch and Goodman Grady all died in the epidemic.

Mary was the second wife of James Monroe Grady and he married her sister Penelope when she died.

She was the third wife of Dr. James Monroe Grady and the sister of Mary Grady his second wife. Penelope was the sister of Mary Grady the second wife of Dr James Monroe Grady and daughter of Henry Grady and Louisa Garner.

After the death of her Father, Myrtie Estelle lived with her half brother James Grady. She was about 12 years old and became close to his son Paul Davis Grady. The brothers were instructed by James Monroe to take care of her after his death.
