15. HENRY9 GRADY (TIMOTHY8, WILLIAM7, JOHN6, ANNE ELIZABETH5 BARFIELD, RICHARD4, RICHARD BARFIELD3 SR., JOHN2 BARFIELD II, JOHN1) was born 1805. He married LOUISA GARNER, daughter of NATHAN GARNER and PENELOPE KORNEGAY. She was born 1816, and died Aft. 1860.

  i.   MARY10 GRADY, b. 1851; m. JAMES MONROE GRADY, 1872; b. Abt. 1823, Albertson Township, Duplin Co NC; d. 1894, Duplin Co. NC.
  Notes for MARY GRADY:
Mary was the second wife of James Monroe Grady and he married her sister Penelope when she died.

  Notes for JAMES MONROE GRADY:
James Monroe Grady inherited the homestead where he was reared . Taught school. After his marrriage he spent a year or two on his farm then went to Georgia where he taught school. He then returned to North Carolina.
James Monroe at some point became a doctor and served in the Civil War for six months and treated soldiers with Diptheria. He also started the smallpox epidemic that killed several of his siblings in 1853-54. Mary, Alexander, Hatch and Goodman Grady all died in the epidemic.

  Notes for PENELOPE GRADY:
She was the third wife of Dr. James Monroe Grady and the sister of Mary Grady his second wife. Penelope was the sister of Mary Grady the second wife of Dr James Monroe Grady and daughter of Henry Grady and Louisa Garner.
