VA. He married ANN SOUTHY 1638 in Northampton Co. VA, daughter of HENRY SOUTHEY and ELIZABETH HAMER. She was born 1615 in England, and died 1656 in Accomac Co VA.

OL. NATHANIEL LITTLETON:
Col. Nathaniel Littleton came to Virginia about 1635, after he had fought in the Low Countries (Netherlands) with the Protestants against the Spanish Catholics, in the service of the Earl of Southhampton about 1625.. The Earl of Southhampton had been a patron of Shakespeare's in the earluy 1590's. According to court records of Accomack Co VA, Nathaniel was first listed as a commissioner at the May Court of 1637, succeeding the deceased John Howe to the title if Commander at the May Court of 1638. Hiis ssocial, intelloectual and political background eninently qualified him to play a leading role in the life of his community. One of his ancestors, Sir Thomas Littleton wasthe celebrated jurist and author of Tenures. His father Sir Edward Littleton, served as Chiedf Justice of North Wales, and his eldest brother, Lord Littleton of Munslow, was Chief Justioce ofthe common pleas court annd lord keeper of the great seal of England. Nathaniel Littleton achieved the pinnacle of colonial prominancfe om 1641 when he was appointed to the Virginia COuncil. He was regarded as the foreemost plnter on the Eastern Shore.
Nathaniel settled on a plantation on Nandua Creek in Accomac CO VA.. In 1638 Nathaniel purchased land from Colonel Edmund Scarburg, In 1640 he was the Commander of Chief Magistrate of Accomack CO VA. In 1648, he was the joint collector of revenues for Northampton Co VA with Colonel Sarburg. In 1652, he was a member of the HOuse of Burgesses and a member of Govenor Berkeley's Executive COuncil. Henry Southey and NAthaniel Littleton owned 13 slaves and Henry sold one for 1200 poiunds of tobacco. The first record of a slave in America is that of Nathaniel selling a slave to Garrett Anderson for 1,000 pounds of tobacco.
His wife Ann Southey was the widow of Charles Harmer and daughter of Henry Southey, thus uniting two families of social distinction and land wealth.
The Lyttleton family of Worcestershire, England was the the origin of the Littleton's of VIrginia. They quarter Arms with the Planagenet.

NN SOUTHY:
Ann Southey (Littleton) died in NOrthampton Co VA on the plantation of Magothy Bay. Her inventory revealed a handsome amount of furniture and clothing. - from "THe Royal Descent of 500 Immigrants" by Gary B. Roberts. She was related to many famous Europeans including Henry IV, King of England.
