Sir Richard was born in the second year of the reign of King RICHARD II. Sir Richard was High Sheriff of Lancashire from 1421 to 1424 and was Knight of the Shire in Parliament. He and his brother John, close friends of HENRY V, fought at Agincourt where Sir Richard led "a company of archers and men-at-arms from his Lancashire estates".[a] Sir Richard materially supported a number of churches including Radclyffe, Bury, Middleton, and Prestwhich, and, with his Ordsall cousins, contributed to the rebuilding of the Collegiate Church of Manchester and the foundation there of St George's Chapel.[a] After Sir Richard's death, Lady Radclyffe married again to Hugh de Tyldesley.[a]

IR JOHN DE RADCLYFFE, "SIR JOHN THE GOOD":
Through his marriage to Lady Cecilia, Sir John acquired the manor of Attleburgh Mortimers, in right of his wife, and a third part of the advowson of Attleburgh Church.[a] Sir John, with his kinsmen Sir John Ratclyffe of Ordsall, Sir Richard Radclyffe of the Tower, and Sir Ralph Radcliff of Smithills, fought with King HENRY V at the Battle of Agincourt, France, in 1415. HENRY awarded Sir John's gallantry by naming him the King's Receiver in the city and dominion of Verneuil. In 1418/19, Sir John was at HENRY V's side at the successful siege of Rouen. He was rewarded by being made Governor of the Castle of Fronsac in Normandy. Sir John was elected a Knight of the Garter in 1425 at the age of forty-five. [Charles B.
