Valentine came to America prior to his family. The story is that his father sent him here to avoid serving in the Prussian War. If the story is true, he would have been the first of the family to emigrate. He married Louisa (maiden name unknown) in Aurora but then moved to Alvord Iowa. Depending on who moved first, this put him in a town near his sister Appolonia.
Valentine and Louisa had no children. They did raise Valentine Streit (from Eola) as a foster child. My guess is that he moved to Iowa to help on the farm when his parents died.
Valentine and Louisa are buried in St Mary's cemetery in Alvord Iowa.
