Notes for Z
ACHARIAH BALEY SUTTON:
Reported by Virginia Bruner Thomas. Daughter of Alvin Bruner, who was the son of Mary Theodisia Sutton regarding the burial place of Zachariah Sutton. My father was a small boy, and he absolutely remembered riding in an open wagon, and going to the La Center Cemetery for his grandfather's burial. When my parents moved from Portland to La Center in the early 1940's, my mother contacted the keeper of the cemetery records in La Center, because they couldn't find any marker for my grandfather, and he searched the records thoroughly and couldn't find any mention of it. There was an old part, where a lot of the old wooden markers had rotted and my father always felt that that must have been where he was buried.
There was never any disagreement in the family as to that being the burial spot.
