Notes for RAYMOND HOWARD SUTTON: The Oregonian Portland, Oregon September 5, 1948 - page 8, col. 1 CURRENT FATAL TO BOAT BUILDER Raymond Howard Sutton, 30, 3644 N. Winchell street, was electrocuted Saturday night while working with a welder's torch in his brother's boatyard at 5705 N.E. Alton street. He was pronounced dead of arrival at Emanuel hospital after resuscitation efforts by Deputy Sheriffs Don Wright and Walter Jahn failed to revive him. Officers said Sutton was welding some pipe to a steel hull and came in contact with live current through faulty welding equipment. The victim father, William A. Sutton, also 3644 N. Winchell street, was at work in another compartment of the boat at the time. The Oregonian Portland, Oregon September 9, 1948 Obit: Sutton - September 4, 1948, Raymond H., late of 3644 N. Winchell St., Son of Mr. and Mrs. William A. Sutton; brother of George Sutton. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 11:30 a.m. Finley's Rose Chapel, SW Montgomery at 4th. Friends invited. Internment at Lincoln Memorial Park. By Dore' Sutton. I never met my Uncle Raymond as he was killed 2 months before I was born. But I have been told that he really loved my sister, being that he had no children of his own. From what I have been told, he was also a talented artist. |
