Death Calls James L. King Aged 84 Years ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ One of Best Known and Respected Citizens Is Taken by Death ---------------------- James Lindsey King, aged 84, one of the most prominent and highly respected citizens of Homestead passed away yesterday afternoon at his late home, 136 West Fourth avenue, after a lingering illness. Mr. King, who was a resident of the borough for the past 45 years, was active in the affairs of Homestead in its early days. He served many years as a school director and also filled the office of president of the board as well as secretary. Was Glass Works Head The deceased was affiliated with the Bryce Higbee Glass Works in his early days, holding the position as superintendent of the works. When he resigned he was presented with a gold watch by his emplyers for his faithfulservice. After leaving the employ of the Glass works Mr. King was appointed health officer of Homestead, a post he held for over 25 years. He resigned this position four years ago when ill health made it impossible for him to fulfill the duties. Mr. King was a charter member of the Outlook Club of Homestead and served as secretary for many years. He was also a charted member of the Franklin Literary Society of Pittsburg and with his death only one member is left. He was a member of the Royal Arcanum, holding the office of secretary for many years, and Homestead I.O.O.F. 1049, and Monongahela Lodge of Masons of South Side. Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Mary E. Pate King and one daughter, Miss Marion L. King. Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon from his late home at 2:30 o'clock with Rev. J. H. Douds officiating. Interment will be made in the South Side cemetery. Please omit flowers.
