Standing next to the pole is my great-grandfather who served as a private in the 23rd Wisconsin Regiment, Co. C. He died at the Wisc. Vet's Home in Waupaca Co. on May 16, 1941, at the age of 101. He was the last surviving Civil War vet from Waushara Co., WI. *See link below to get more of his story.
