Margaret Gwendolyn Thomas (b. 16 December 1909, d. 05 September 1998)
Margaret Gwendolyn Thomas (daughter of William John Thomas and Margaret Loosemore) was born 16 December 1909 in Grasselli, Harrison Co., West Virginia, and died 05 September 1998 in Sharon, Mercer Co., PA.
Notes for Margaret Gwendolyn Thomas: Margaret's mother had measles when carrying Margaret. Margaret was born very hard of hearing. When she was little her parents tried to get her to wear a hearing aid so that she could go to school. The other children made fun of her and she would smash the hearing aids. Eventually the family stopped buying hearing aids for her. As a result her speech was hardly intelligible to other than family members. Later in life she did wear hearing aids, but it was to late to improve her speech.
She was the last of her brothers and sisters to die. After her sister, Elsie, died a woman was hired to come and stay with Margaret. This did not work. Eventually she went to Clepper's Nursing Home in Sharon, PA, where she spent her remaining days.
