Robert L. McCool - Funeral services for Robert Lee McCool, 48, of Athens will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday in the New Life Church with Rev. Russ Frase and Rev. Charles Wigley officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Memorial Park under the direction of Foster and Brown Funeral Home. Mr. McCool died Friday. He was born March 27, 1936 in Athens. He lived in the Athens area all of his life. Survivors include his wife, Ellen Faye McCool of Athens; one son, Jerry Lynn McCool of Athens; two daughters, Dani Delain McCool and Peggy McCool, both of Athens; one step daughter Lari Lea Wilkins of Athens; his parents Mr. and Mrs. R.C. McCool of Athens; six sisters, Mrs. Alice Smiley, Mrs. Ruby Pillow, Mrs. Dorothy Palmer, Mrs. Shirley Akers and Mrs. Linda Williams, all of Athens and Mrs. Deanie Miller of Poynor. Pallbearers will be James Sanders, Vegie Williams, Ralph Miller, Tom Akers, Doyle Rogers and James D. Rogers.



Notes: Robert was killed Friday morning March 30, 1984 when the gravel truck he was driving for Texas Clay Industries of Malakoff, TX was hit by a train. He had just unloaded at Texas Clay and was following another truck which made it across the tracks. Per eye witness train engineer D. S. Stanton "it looked like he tried to apply his brakes at the last minute but it was too late." Eyewitness Jerry Mettlen of the Malakoff water department said, "I was standing just a little ways from the crossing when the accident happened and saw a body thrown from the truck over the top of the train engine. It was awful."
Robert's 10 year old son Bobby was supposed to be riding with him that day as he sometimes did but did not on this day.

Glenda Tiner
Services for Glenda Joann Tiner, 53, Trinidad, are scheduled for 2 P.M. Sunday at Eubank Funeral Home chapel in Canton with Jimmy Munns officiating.
Burial will be in Holly Springs Cemetery in Van Zandt County.
Mrs. Tiner died Friday in a Tyler nursing home after a lengthy illness.
She was born Jan. 9, 1936 in Athens. She lived most of her life in Henderson County and was a maintenance worker for Four Winns Boat Manf. She was a member of Mankin Assembly of God Church in Trinidad. She was preceded in death by her foster parents, Malgum and Velma Hall.
Survivors include a son, Kinneth Tiner, Tyler; a daughter, Kindra Tiner, Tyler; a half-brother, Johnny Wayne Hall, Ben Wheeler; two half-sisters, Pat and Linda Anderson, Ben Wheeler,
Pallbearers are Doug Feagin, Calvin Franklin, Michael Adcock, Ferrel Shaw, John Hall and David Santoya.
