Notes for Samuel Bishop:
      There is a probate order #115 Glens Falls, NY, giving an account on guardianship (see notes on father, Jesse Bishop). A will is also on file. Bay Street cemetery, Glens Falls, NY is the burial site. Marker reads, "Samuel 1826, aged 27 years, his wife Marie, 1824, age 20 years." The burial sermon preached by S. Hoag.

Notes for Eliza Newton Lee:
      She is the sister of William L. Lee. William sailed to Honolulu with Charles Reed Bishop in 1846. Upon the death of Linus Bishop, she married a Mr. Dewey who kept the Sandy Hill store where Charles Reed Bishop worked as a clerk.

He is named in the pol tax of 1847. Came to Honolulu, July 27, 1850 on board the bark "Caroline" from San Francisco. Also reported on board the bark "Agnes and Emma", March 30, 1853.

She was invited to Hawaii by Charles Reed Bishop. She met William Allen there.

  Notes for William Fessander Allen:
He attended Williams College and settled in Hawaii in the 1850's. From 1864 to 1884 he was Collector General of Customs. From 1885 to 1894 he and his wife were the official hosts for Charles Reed Bishop while he lived at 61 Emma Street. Bishop left $5000 to Cordelia Alderson, niece of the W.F. Allen's.
