| This is the family page for Jeffrey L. Toth and Janice Lynn (Miner) Toth. The family lines represented here include Toth, Shade, Coakley, Sheehan, Miner, Rider, Hart, and Becker. The Steven Toth family imigrated from Hungary in 1910. The family originated in the area of Szerencs, Hungary. My great grandfather, Steven (Istvan), his wife Elizabeth (Erzsebet) Bobacsek, and children Mary Matilda, Steven, and Louis, first located in New York, where Helen was born, then settled in Bridgeport, CT, where Frank (my grandfather) was born. The family moved to Cleveland, OH around 1921. The Shade's (my paternal grandmother's family) are Pennsylvania Dutch. I've gone back as far as Samuel Detwiler Shade, born February 9, 1845, in Bucks Co., PA. Pennsylvania records are terribly scarce that far back and I'm afraid I've reached a deadend. My great grandfather was, Wilson Morris Shade, who also ended up in Cleveland, OH. This is where my grandmother, Doris Lillian Shade was born. The Coakley's and Sheehan's (my mother's ancestors) are Irish all the way. I've taken the Coakley's back to Timothy Coakley, born c.1820 in Co. Cork, husband of Ellen A. Nevell and father of Cornelius Coakley, born November 6 1845, in Ireland, my mother's grandfather. The Sheehan's I've traced back to John Joseph Sheehan, my mother's other grandfather. He was born c.1873 in Co. Cork, and married Hannah Murphy. Again, unless I can find something in land records from the mid 19th century, I don't think I'll be taking these lines back any further either. My wife's family traces their roots back to Thomas Minor of Connecticut and England. There are a lot of Miners/Minors out there and thanks to the numerous contributions at Family Tree Maker and Ancestry web sites, in addition to others, I've been able to construct a very extensive tree of descendents of Thomas Minor. If you think you might have a tie to my family, the Toth's and Shade's have primarily been settled around Cleveland, OH since early this century.
