Galen "Shorty" Trepanier grew up in Oconto. He worked at his fathers grocery store before entering the Navy in WWII. He trained at Great Lakes, Ill. before being sent to San Diago, California to work on submarines. After the war he again worked for his father part time and became a tin smith making ducts for furnaces and roofs. He worked for TeeHee Oneil in Oconto putting on metal roofs and putting in furnaces. Shorty was very handy, he could do any kind of work and did it well, siding, roofing, cement, furnaces, carpentry, electrical and mechanical. He Married Arvilla May Delveaux in 1941 in Oconto. They parented two boys, Roger in 1942 and Bruce in 1956. Shorty was working for House on the Rock at Spring Green, Wisconsin when he died of a gun shot wound in 1966.
