Includes NotesNotes for Andrey Edna Rose Sharp:
Audrey, daughter of Ivy Selina Sharp and Walter Edwin Sharp, was the first of four children, three daughters and a son. When she was a young child they moved to 44, Mowbray Road. Cambridge. With her siblings and neighbours, she would often play skipping games in the toad, lowering the skipping rope for the occasional car that passed by (not a practical proposition these days). In 1942-3, when she was 14, she was very ill with rheumatic fever and spent several months in hospital, missing much of the school year.

After leaving school, she worked in Cambridge in the offices of Slater and Dominies in Hobson Street and at A. Macintosh and Sons in Market Street. Audrey met John, an electronics engineer, on a punt trip on the River Cam. She loved dancing and they often danced at the Cambridge Com Exchange on Saturday evenings.

John and Audrey were married at St. John's Church, Cambridge on 9th October 1948 and spent their honeymoon in Bournemouth. Their first home was in Chesterfield Road, Cambridge. In 1968 they moved to Impington, where they stayed for the next 41 years. During the early yeat's in Impington, she worked part-time in the offices of Unwins Seedsmen and enjoyed the opportunity to buy plants at reduced prices.

Audrey was very interested in, and good at, needlecrafts and spent much time dress-making for herself and her daughters. She was a keen knitted and enjoyed embroidery and Crochet, making, for example, many jumpers, cushion covers and table-cloths. When not involved in these crafts, she enjoyed, and spent much time, cooking. Gardening, both indoors and outside, was another of her passions. One of her favourite houseplants was African violets (saintpaulias) and she enjoyed propagating these from leaf cuttings. For the garden, she raised hundreds of bedding plants from seed. She was always' busy.

When it was time for house decorating, she was the wallpaper hanger and was happy to "walk the plank" over the stairs.

She had three children, Christine, Yvonne and Paul, all of who can cook, sew and garden. Her grandchildren, Joanna, Gemma and Declan remember playing shops with her and the special food she prepared for them. In particular, Jo recalls the ice-cream bombs; Gemma remembers her grandma's cherry cake; and Declan relished her lemon meringue pie. Audrey's nieces and nephews loved tea-time with their auntie and Audrey always enjoyed family "get-togethers".
