My Sindorfs are from Argenthal, Prussia. Three brothers, Jacob, Mathias, and Wilhelm--and maybe others--emigrated in 1845 and 1856 to my home town. We were about 100 years behind the earliest American Sindorfs (including Zindorfs, Cindors, Sanders, Sandrafs, and about a dozen more spellings). We are still trying to find the tie that binds us all together.
My Ulrichs are from Posen, Prussia (well, actually, Poland, it seems, unless there are multiple Posens.) As this surname is much more common, I'm still embedded in the Sindorf research.
This is fascinating and fun. I invite anyone with leads, advice, ideas, questions, or connections to email me at the address below.
Happy hunting. Sharon Ulrich Great Great Great granddaughter of Jacob Sindorf
