Updated April 11, 2004

About Our Family Research

The Urbatsch family's history began in the area of Breslau Germany, this city and region since WWII is known as Wroclaw, Poland. The Urbatsch family immigrating to the US in the early 1800's, pioneered the upper midwest setteling in Wisconsin and then relocating, primarily in Iowa, Minnesota, and North Dakota. The original immigrants were truly courageous leaving what was civilization and moving to a new land with many hazards and great uncertanty. Having left family and friends for a new life in America must have represented a great and exciting challenge. We may never know the reason for leaving thir homeland; however, America must have been perceived as a land of great opportunity. The Family, with a rich history in agriculture tilled the virgin soils of the heartland and have defended the flag of the United States in every war or conflict since their arrival in America. The decendants of these early pioneers have and will continue make their own impact on the development of this nation.
