Person Sheet Name: Miss Edith Alisia Alice HUXTABLE ---------------------------------------- Birth: 7 7 1874 All Saints, Maldon Essex Burial: 5 4 1965 Greenwood Cemetary Canada Father: Mr George HUXTABLE (?1828-1905) Mother: Miss Ester Emma FRANCIS (1844-1922) Spouses: Unmarried: Notes for Miss Edith Alisia Alice HUXTABLE 1881 was at The Hythe, St Mary`s, Maldon. 1901 census online doesn`t list an Edith of the right age, but there`s a NELLIE HUXTABLE, aged 25, born Maldon, working in London at St Marylebone as a Useful Help Domestic. She went to Canada with brother Harry, sister Mabel & nephew Claude. 1901-2 she was a dressmaker. 1912 she was living at 519 Albert st. (A boarding House). 1914 she was at 166 Spring St. 1916 she was at 168 March St. 1919 she was at 99 Grace St, where she lived for the rest of her life. NOTES FROM A RESEARCHER LIVING IN SAULT ST MARIE 2002: "The house at 99 Grace Street is now torn down to make way for a parking lot. But I did note that where the house of Edythe was and where Harry lived were probably at that time only about a minute walk. Depending on how things looked back then they may have actually been able to see each others home. The Grace street area of the city is now a run down district and not a very good neighborhood. While the Biggings Street area is unique in that it is so narrow that two cars couldn't pass each other without pulling over on the sidewalk. I don't think there is another street in the city that narrow. In case you are not aware of the Sault Ferry, it was a ferry that crossed the river from Sault Ste. Marie Ontario to Sault Ste. Marie Michigan on the American side of the river that forms the border between our two countries. This ferry operated until some time around 1963-64." ---------------------------------------- Last Modified: 15 9 2002 Created: 28 9 2002
