1901 census online lists an Ernest Wadey, aged 15, born Lewes, carterboy on farm.
Unknown why he changed his name from Wadey to Waddy.
When he married he lived in Tring, Herts he was listed as a soldier.
Address at time of death was 27 Spurling Close, Cheveley. He was living with Alfred. Cause of death:
1 (a) Uraemia
(b) Chronic cystitis
prostatitis
Bronchitis.
He lived at 16 Mill Road, Ashley from 1934 - 1957.
12 3 1918 = Private 5132518 77th AE Co.Labourer corps (groom in hunting stables).
Roll of individuals entitled to Victory Medal / British War Medal 1919 listed him as George WADEY. Date stamped onto official record is blurred but believed to be 16 Nov 1920.
30 12 1915 = Private 3/5 Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment (No 4454).
16 12 1932 he was a groom in racing stables in Dalham, Moulton. (Owned by J. Waugh?).
He was living at The Lodge, Catford Bridge, Dalham. (May was in Exning!).
Born at `Winterbourne Cottage`, St Annes USD, Lewes, East Sussex.

3/5th Battalion.
Formed at Bedford in June 1915.
8 April 1916 : became 5th (Reserve) Bns; combined with 1st (Reserve) Bn, the Hertfordshire Regiment on 11 July 1917. Remained in UK throughout the war.
