He was born Abt. 1877 in Des Moise, Iowa.

      Amelia Veron WANTZ, MCDONALD, OLSON, SLOAN.
      Amelia was a student in a Catholic Convent and ran away to marry Karl OLSON. She was 16 years old at that time. In the 1900 census, Karl is listed as an assistant Post Master of Northwood, North Dakota.
      Her daughter, Frances Sloan DOOLEY, said her mother had dark olive skin, hair so black that in the sunlight it showed blue highlights, and eyes so dark that they looked all black.
