Notes for GEORGE ELMER PAGE: His last letter home, from Africa, said that he had struck it rich in a gold mine there, and was coming home, and that his parents need never worry about money. That was the last they heard, except after much inquiry, they contacted someone who wrote he had died. He was the largest of the Page brothers, standing 6 ft. 4 in. Also, he was well proportioned. His brothers were all 6 ft. 2 in. or more. |

Notes for IDA MAY PAGE: Ida May was an infant when her parents moved to York, Nebraska, attended school there. Graduated from a Normal Course at the Aurora Normal and Business College Aurora, NE, and from York College Academy, York, NE. Studied music at York College Conservatory of Music, and the State University Conservatory of Music at Lincoln, NE. Was College Junior when she moved to Iowa. Taught Violin for several years. Married Arthur HOKENSON of Spirit Lake, Iowa. Active in missionary work, he was born near Stromsburg, NE, and attended school there, took a business course at the Mosher Lampman College, Omaha, NE. When 22 years old, he built and managed a fine hotel at Polk, NE, where due to superior service, banquets were held for such noted people, as Ernestine Schumann Heink, and the late William Jennings Bryan. For a period of years, he was known as the youngest of hotel operators. In 1929, he sold out, and moved to his mother's farm by Lake Okiboji near the resort town of Spirit Lake, IA. In 1944 he moved to Los Angeles, CA. |
