Charles Paine Sr was born April 4, 1758 in Halifax Co, VA. He served in the Revolutionary War as a private in the Virginia Militia. He moved to Tennessee and lived in the part that became Hawkins Co. He lived there for 14 years. He then moved to Georgia and lived there for 19 years. Charles then moved to Warren Co. where he applied for war pension on April 3, 1833. He died September 7, 1838.
