2. EDWARD THROCKMORTON³ PASSONS (MAJOR², THOMAS¹) was born July 25, 1836 in White Co., TN, and died November 20, 1919 in Sparta TN. He married EVELINE YORK December 30, 1857, daughter of HARMON YORK and NANCY TALLEY. She was born January 22, 1837 in Spencer TN, and died January 14, 1911 in Spencer TN.

Notes for EDWARD THROCKMORTON PASSONS:
E. T. Passons served with Co 1 of the Sixteenth Tennessee Infantry in the Civil War.They were under the command of Col John Savage. They fought in many important battles of the war. E. T. Passons is mentioned in a series of articles written for the Spencer Times by C. W. Clark. They fought at Perryville ,Murfreesboro, Chickamauga, and Atlanta. Many of the great generals of the South are mentioned in the article. At various times the Van Buren boys were under the command of Gen. Bragg, Gen. Longstreet. Gen. Polk and Gen. Joe Johnson.
