Jacob Benjamin Cochran

Jacob Benjamin Cochran born about 1822 in Oxford Township, Guernsey County Ohio, married twice, followed his brothers to California during the Gold Rush and shows up on that 1860 census with brother John Henderson Cochran, served in the Civil War in the Ohio Infantry and then moved his first family with Mariah White to Iowa and became farmers.

Mariah's father seems to have been Joseph White of Maryland who was on the 1850 census of Oxford with his son Robert White, and living next to Robert Henderson, which is nearly the same location where we found Mariah on the 1860 census with her daughters including one named Josina.

Jacob Cochran's mother was Martha Henderson. His father William Cochran of Pennsylvania married Miss Henderson on 2/20/1818 in Guernsey and they are found on the Ohio 1820 census living near the Hendersons. She was a daughter of Nancy Ann Clendennin and William Henderson.

William's parents were John Henderson and Martha Long - Nancy's parents were Sarah Sturgeon and John Clendenning.

All of these families had migrated to Ohio; then several moved into Iowa.

When his first wife passed away Jacob married a widowed Clora Jane Miller of Illinois.

The 1880 census shows he has a grandson named Frank, but his first wife only had daughters so this is quite a mystery. Several years later, Clora Jane gave him a son named Frank Delbert Cochran and this Frank married Luella Coonfield in Benton County Arkansas

Jacob Benjamin Cochran, born February 22, 1822 in Oxford, Guernsey, Ohio; died November 24, 1902 also First Homesteaders of Hill City, in 1882 Graham, KS. He was the son of William Cochran and Martha Patty Henderson.

He married Clora Jane Miller November 13, 1879 in Bloomington, McLean, Ilinois.

Clora Jane Miller, born October 12, 1852 in Bloomington, McLean, IL; died December 06, 1931 in Hill City, Graham, KS. She was the daughter of James Madison Miller and Mary Clara Parker.

iv. Mary Jane Emmaline Cochran, born September 20, 1885 in Hillcity, Graham, Kansas; died December 02, 1989 in Vancouver, Clark, Washington; married (3) Gustave Bertrand April 16, 1902; born 1870 in Hill City KS; married (4) Edward Walker 1921; born 1881; died 1962 in Mich. March 21, 1921.

Benjamin Wallace Coonfield, born August 31, 1870 in Anderson, Benton Co Arkansas; died 1938 in Coffelt Cemetery, Benton Co AR. He was the son of Benjamin Wylie Coonfield and . Martha Frances Young.

He married Lattie Cedonia Little November 29, 1891 in Symore Rifes, Arkansas.

. Lattie Cedonia Little, born January 14, 1872 in Bardstown Junction, Kentucky; died January 23, 1933 in Vaughn, Benton County, Arkansas. She was the daughter of . John Wright Little and 23. Mary Catherine Crigler.( John had moved his family from Kentucky after the death of his wife, but also moved his father in law as well, Abraham Crigler to Marble Township Arkansas)
