Butler and Daws Family History

Updated October 12, 2008

About Our Family Research

David Butler came from Waterford County, Ireland coming to the United States about 1830, first settling near Berne, Albany County, New York. David came to Stephenson County about 1850, as did his sister and brother, Marissa and Albert.

David Butler is buried at a small cemetery near Winslow, Illinois called Christian Hollow. David was a Civil War soldier and was badly wounded near Atlanta, Georgia. He died in 1891. Charlotte is from the Harmon Family that first settled in Springfield, Massachusetts about 1640 and has a long genealogy. She was born in W. Rupert, Bennington County, Vermont. Her parents migrated to Cresco, Iowa and are buried there.

The Daws Family came from Sussex, England. Frank, born about 1770 was a farmer and gardener in Sussex County, England. Most of my Daws data was reseached and documented by Karine Daws Fulton. I have gotten additional information from Gary Price and others.
