FUNERAL OF MRS. KERLIN CLAY HELD FRIDAY
Funeral services of the late Mrs. Kerlin Clay were held from
the family home Friday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. I. J. Obenshain
officiating. Interment was made in the
Lena Burial Park.
Clara Bechtold was born May 17, 1875 in Jo Daviess county
and passed away at her home in Lena Wednesday morning, September 10 1931. On October 4, 1893 she was united in
marriage to Kerlin Clay. Twenty-eight
years ago the family moved to Lena, where they since resided.
She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, Kerlin Clay, and
the following children: Byron E. Clay
of Lena, Mrs. John Mordick of Freeport, Mrs. Frank E. Kailey of Lena, Silas W.
Clay of New Castle, Wyo., and Stiver L. Clay of Lena. A sister, Mrs. Delbert Butler of Nora and a brother, William C.
Bechtold also of Nora, and three grandchildren.
The deceased was a home loving woman devoting her time to
her family. She had been in ill health
for several years, about three months ago she submitted to an operation after
which she seemed on the road to recovery, until about four weeks ago, when her
health failed and she gradually grew weaker until death terminated her
sufferings, Wednesday morning.
We wish to thank the many firends, relatives and neighbors
for the beautiful floral offerings, and the many acts of kindness and
assistance extended us during our recent bereavement.
